The fact is Samson himself used a donkey's jawbone to defeat a thousand men in one sitting. Such a feat would not be possible without the Lord's help. Judges 15:14-16 says that with the Holy Spirit's power was only Samson able to do this. This time the world is full of Philistines. However due to the fact that the struggle is NOT against flesh and blood but against Satan's spiritual forces (Ephesians 6:12), Samson's awesome strength is viewed on the spiritual side of the Christian. Christian would mean "without Christ I am NOTHING".
In fact, God can break EVERY wall to winning souls and Christians must NEVER act outside of God's will, must NEVER do anything without asking for God's help first. Joshua succeeded in breaking down the walls because he trusted God all the more. He failed however when he didn't ask God for advice concerning making a treaty with the people who turned out to be the Gibeonites.
Today the world is full of fools. In fact just reading the Book of Proverbs and the Book of Ecclesiastes alone has convinced me how STUPID mankind is and how God must be present in the lives of people. The world today is just full of "Philistines" that will try to get rid of God's men in every corner, exploit their weaknesses especially with the men through their women. Satan has PLENTY of Delilahs waiting to prey on the Christian males who are like Samson. However God will still make jackasses out of Satan's people.
How can that be? Remember that a Christian is NOTHING without Christ. The Holy Spirit is the very source of strength for the believer. The fact is it is God that works in the person (Philippians 2:12-14) and NOT the person that work. If God could pull down the walls of Jericho and all a person needs to do is trust His plan, it will work. If God can save the soul in an instant, He can do more than that to the Christian life.
Wicked men will fret against God. They hate God. Many choose to remain in rebellion against God and refuse to come to His terms. Many choose to distance themselves thus salvation is far from them (Psalm 119:114) and many of them hate the forgiven sinner given the righteousness of Christ. However as they pursue and attack the work of God, they are in for a big surprise.
Why? The more they persecute Christianity, the more it will grow instead! Just take for example the Roman government, the Spanish Inquisition, the Crusades and the list go on and on. This phenomenon didn't die with the dark ages- in fact it's still going on until today as Matthew 24:14 says that the Gospel of the Kingdom will be preached then the end will come.
Honestly speaking, did the efforts of the Vatican to stop soulwinning in Cebu work? No. Even with the hard efforts they did in Cebu like through Catholic faith defenders for example, Bible Baptist Church in Katipunan under the leadership of Pastor Armie Jesalva ended up making donkeys out of them through the Holy Spirit. In fact, they ended up like the Philistines in a downward spiral as the donkey's jawbone hits them all.
